Time to Change That Dial

Have you ever wondered how some people seem genuinely happy most of the time while others seem sad, depressed, stressed, or overwhelmed? Have you ever wished you could know their secret?

The answer might be in our thoughts. For most of us, our thoughts and judgments dominate our entire day. Someone says something rude or does something to upset us, or the kids won’t do what we’ve asked; we get ignored or rushed. You know the drill. It happens almost every day, from one moment to another. Do you grab hold of the event and let your thoughts and emotions control your mood and actions? For many of us, the answer is a resounding YES, and the next question is: how can I stop this?

First, recognize we CAN stop these negative thoughts from overwhelming us. All you do is simply change that dial.

If you don’t like your thoughts or emotional state, take a moment. Ask yourself: is this modality/state of mind the way I want to spend my day or hang out in? Or would I prefer another reality?

Sometimes, surprisingly, we may choose to stay mad, angry, or upset. Other times, we will hear the little voice in our head say, “Absolutely not; I would prefer to have a happier, better day.” If you’re ready, here’s a little secret that is too simple to ignore:

Simply change the dial on what your brain and emotions are focused on. Instead, think of something that makes you happy. Listen to a song or music that brings you joy. Change to a different channel of thought, and you will see how simply and quickly your mood and thoughts will realign.

Give this simple solution a try, and let me know how it works for you.
